In many metropolitan areas, UHF channels are saturated or unavailable resulting from the recent FCC spectrum auctions. The Shure PGX Digital wireless systems operate in the 902-928 mhz range, which is currently free of the regulatory issues that UHF wireless microphone users currently face. The range on PGX digital is about 40% less compared to the UHF BLX systems. For example, if you are getting 300 ft of range on UHF, you may only get about 200 feet on a PGX digital system.
